简介：According to Sadoul in his "Dictionary Of Films": "The life and death of four average soldiers attached to the same company on the French front during the last months of World War I. Karl (Diessl), from Berlin, goes home on leave and finds his wife (Hoessrich) in bed with another man. A Bavarian (Kampers) takes life as it comes, while the lieutenant (Clausen) sticks to his duty. Anex-student (Moebis) falls in love with a French girl (Monnier) but loses her when the company moves on. All of them, sooner or later, meet a terrible end. Best sequences: the men buried alive during a bombardment; the first romantic meeting between the young student and Yvette; Berlin in the midst of food rationing with queues at all the shops; the death of the student at the hands of a wounded soldier in no-man's-land; the tank attack; the lieutenant going mad; the wounded and the dying in the ruined church converted into a field hospital. "Far better than the contemporary All Quiet On The Western Front, Westfront 1918 has little dialogue but gives tremendous dramatic force to natural sounds (Pabst refused to use music). As John C. Moore describes the final sequences: 'Pabst makes one last desperate effort to convey to us not only the horror of war but its futility and its gross stupidity as well.' Released to tremendous international acclaim, it still must be included among the finest war films ever made."

简介：“Break Through the Limits of Eroticism!” So read the title of one newspaper advertisement for SABANGJI, set during the Chosŏn dynasty (1392-1910) and undeniably catering to heterosexual male desire to gaze into the realm of female homoeroticism. In classic exploitation form, the title character of the film possesses both male and female genitalia, leading Sabangji to suffer an identity crisis and experience feelings of self-contempt. 　　And yet the film erases the protagonist’s masculine characteristics altogether. Sabangji’s penis never reveals itself even as a contour, existing merely as a crashing sound effect in the first sex scene. The erasure might be a sop to placate heterosexual men, but it also creates a space for female homoeroticism and an alternative, if tragic, form of love. In this sense, an otherwise sensationalistic phrase in the newspaper advertisement for the film is quite honest: “Hot female-to-female relations that rise above ethics and morals!” –Han Sang Kim

简介："The Countess Cosel" is based on the true story of the beautiful Anna Constantia von Brockdorff, a German noblewoman who became mistress of Augustus the Strong, King of Poland and Elector of Saxony in 1704. Against the backdrop of life at Augustus' court the movie follows the arrival at Dresden of 24-year-old Anna Constantia von Brockdorff, who is an inordinately beautiful and scrupulously devout young married woman; her romance with the king and her "ten year reign" as his mistress - a role she consents to in the belief that she has won the king's love and commitment; and finally, her heartbreak, disillusion and struggle against him. The conflict between Anna and the king arises from the fact that Anna takes seriously not only the relationship, but the written promise of marriage which she manages to secure from him during their courtship. Neither the relationship nor the contract is held in much esteem by Augustus, who replaces her, as he has always done, with another mistress, as soon as she loses for him the charm of novelty. Her valiant refusal to return the marriage promissory note upon request enrages him and delivers her to her miserable fate.
